The CSG companies have not explained where their contamination came from because they don't know. They are working to find out.
I haven't seen the Cougar reports so can't comment but I find it hard to believe they were so "lacking in substance" when Cougar's own ASX releases have been so detailed, and when other papers I've read by Blinderman about groundwater monitoring at Chinchilla were perfect models of scientific papers.
I've said this many times before, but it's time to forget Queensland. Even if they do get cleared to restart (which seems highly unlikely while they remain the sacrificial lamb for other projects) it'll only take one more trace of benzene for it all to happen again.
Very disappointing but unsurprising. Dalton and DERM have shown no objectivity since the very start, they are just dancing to the politicians' tune.
