Dex..
There is "ADEQUATE" data if we look hard enough!
Many of you would remember the Tony Fitzgerald inquiry
in 1989,resulting in the prosecution and jailing of five
Bejelke Petersen's Ministers,including Police commiss-
ioner Terry Lewis for corruption.
Mr Fitzgerald QC broke two decades of silence on the
29th of July 2009,after Anna Bligh said she would mark
the 20th Anniversary of the landmark report,by reviving
the increasingly controversial interaction between
politicians and big business in Queensland.
Bligh's "review" coincided with the trial and jailing
of Gordon Nuttal for corruption and receiving secret
commissions from the business sector.
Tony Fitzgerald stated that both Peter Beattie and
Anna Bligh gravitate toward unaccountable Government.
Mr Fitzgerald said that Queensland was slipping back
to "DARK DAYS" and that a 'cloak of secrecy' covers
much of what ministers did and favours were being
dispensed to the favoured few. "Access can now be
purchased,patronage is dispensed,mates and supporters
are appointed and RETIRED POLITICIANS exploit their
connections to obtain 'success fees' for deals between
business and Government".
------------------------------------
Beattie's time in office produced nought in the way
of sound Government and Bligh is following suit, with
a grab for fast easy money [CSG]and stuff the conseq-
uences.Pratt and the rest of the 'sub species' just
add to the lack of business ethics and morality that
surround this Government.
Example...
Courier Mail Nov 16 2010. [abb]
A hostile land battle is under way outside Chinchilla
as a leading LNG company starts the development of
intensive coal seam gas production facilities.
After fighting off Queensland Gas for more than three
years,Brian and Carol Monk are about to be surrounded
by development. They have been 'told' negotiations with
QGC would start this week, but they have no idea what
that means or what QGC wants.
QGC has a proposal to build 334 coal seam gas wells
in and around the property the Monks share with their
son and his wife on a huge section of the land the
company calls Jordan.
After 2014,the company plans even more development in
the area to feed the LNG export plant in Gladstone.
The infrastructure it will build on the 145,000ha
Jordan site is massive - the first real look at how
intensive the coal seam gas industry will be in the
Surat Basin since the $15 billion project won envir-
onmental and financial approval recently.
Each of the 334 wells has a construction footprint
of 1ha. "It's quite frightening", Mr Monk said.
"Its the devastation of the entire region and there's
nothing you can do about it.There will be nowhere that
does not have ponds and pipelines and wells and power
lines."
[Dex raised these same issues in a recent post]
According to QGC's environmental authority application,
alongside the wells will be 80 frac ponds holding water
released from underground during the process that rel-
eases gas.
There will be seven huge storage dams over a 32ha
holding about 2000 ML of water, plus a major pond of
2000 ML.There will be pits from which QGC will dig
rock and gravel for access roads.
A workers camp for about 900 people will be built,
but the Monks have no idea where.
"There is nothing you can do to get away from this,"
Mr Monk said. "I've told my son if he has a chance to
get away he should take it.No sane person would want
to raise their children next to a compression station.
---------------------------------------
Now compare the above with Cougar's pristine footprint,
and even the lowest IQ would register that something is
amiss.
With Labor in 'control' the coal seam "bandits" can do
no wrong. However, the media is starting to question the
reasoning behind Bligh's blatant acts of favouritism
toward the CSG industry who will bastardize Queensland's
future energy/agricultural existence. [imo]
A triangle of shame is emerging between Government,CSG
and UCG.Perhaps Cougar's management need to enlist the
skills of Tony Fitzgerald for more "UPDATES" on the
behavioral habits of Queensland's elected represent-
atives.
Sparring gloves need to come off now and buckets of
ice water thrown in the faces of those who continue
to misuse their positions of power in deceitful ways.
The crusade against UCG is being orchestrated by a
corrupt administration that has outlived its ability
to govern and is on a destructive path with the
electorate. imo]
Long live the Cat.
