The animal study only went for 12-14wks not 52wks.

Also the 50mg and 75mg were given twice a day correct ? so that would be a total of 100-150mg/day.

Also Im definately not a Dr or neurologist, but if ATH434 only transports straight to the brain than it may not require a per kg dosage, as brain mass is not like body weight to my belief.

This is likely something else they will have to look into, and implement into the next phase, as this drug may have to be monitored quite regularly and titrated, much like warfarin for example, as it may have a very fine therapeutic level.

I guess also, with the animal trial, they were there to see results, so they found that it reduced the parkinsonian symptoms and still remained safe, despite the high dosage, and the FDA may have put a cap on the dosage amount due to it being a new novel unknown drug.

There may also be alot of other underlying reasons as well, such as cost of production to a wider population, timeline to produce the drug....

I have also just done a quick look back at ph 1 results, and I didnt see the dosages given, but I would also assume they were the same, which would also likely have been an FDA requirement (see screen shot pics on next post)

Despite the possibly small dosage level, it has shown that it works, and something the team will work through.
