In light of what's happening in the Ukraine I thought it may be prudent to suggest to those who hate the USA and the UK (with a passion that is beyond me) to take a moment and think that if Australia was in the same situation who would help us.

But what is in it for them? As far as the US is concerned, it could well be to their benefit of the Asian supply chain is more direct. After all, the US don't buy much from us. We don't have oil. We are not in a particularly strategic position. They declined to help the UK in the Falklands issue, they declined to help us in the East Timor scuffle - they are fairweather friends, always demanding our help and turning away if we need it.
