valen1828,
If a flat rate tax system is superior to a progressive system, why hasn't there been a Flat Rate of Tax Party in this country championing it ? If there had been one, it would have been swept into power in a landslide win, wouldn't it ?
The reality is, for social and political reasons, it is not a better system. A flat rate tax system has been talked about for decades but it has never really got up.
Any tax imposed by a government is a political decision, subject to the views of the people in the country. I have no knowledge of groundswell support for a flat rate tax system in our western democratic parliamentary system. The people had spoken.
