I don't know if it's a lack of courage though I largely agree with Reaper. imo yes they do lack courage..... this makes a difference with the Libs, who couldn't give a toss about consequences, and the Greens, who imo are not competent to recognise limitations. the bravery of the pathological ideologues and the naïve is much more dangerous path.
I agree the Menzies housing plan made great work and lifted the nation out of a potential WW2 recession. but low density housing is today anathema. theres a real imperative to protect native habitat and to construct medium to high density housing on existing cleared land rather than destroy native bush.
if the Greens win the balance of power in a hung parliament then such restrictions would be so immensely difficult as to make even high density housing highly contentious. the greens want everything immediately... but imo haven't the intelligence or mental capacity to understand the nuances of such decisions.
