Both Tory and Labour made their energy policies in knowingly denial of facts and contradictory to their election campaign statements.
Both parties admitted the fact that UK energy demands will need oil and gas even in Net Zero beyond 2050. Both acknowledged UK will need to import 50% of its gas consumption in Net Zero scenario by 2050 even with new license in North Sea.
In her recent speech (link below) on UK fossil fuel uses in UK energy transition, the Secrectary of Energy Security and indeed Labour Shadow Secretary acknowledge new natural gas domestic production is compatible with the government Net Zero policies. In fact she recognised the boom of shale gas production was one of the key factor that provided funding for Biden renewable policies in his Inflation Reduction Act. And yet both UK political parties strangled UK shale industries with unworkable regulations while forcing the UK economy and publics to depend on imported LNG at the costs of tens of billion pound annually from now on and beyond 2050 even if they can get renewables, nuclear and battery storages plan to work.

So it seem the Ministers of Energy of both parties are just empty words or they are operating in denial of reality and facts.
