I disagree that they are incompetent. Yes they are competent but doing the ban on shale gas wilfully and politically to undermine the UK economic and energy security.
Both party know the equation of demand and domestic gas production going into Net Zero and beyond 2050. They tax north sea production to death.
The Tory party Ministers signed Net Zero, a Labour centre piece policy, into law without proper scrutiny on the actual cost or how to achieve it with stable and affordable electricity for the economy. And now they complain about Labour unfunded cost for Labour Net Zero strategies. And then whining about Net Zero putting the UK energy supplies at the mercy of China dependant supply chains of green technology. Well, what happened to due diligence on reviewing and assessment on the cost, feasibility and risks before signing it into law.
It doesnt look like there will be a political change in UK shale gas. Cuadrilla should either pack it up or go to legal route to recoup its investment made in good faith but got shut down by unfair government policy and decision. UK shale gas is at a dead end.
