Where do you get the idea that, via consolidation, the share price will suddenly be worth more automatically - seemingly overnight???

Consolidation doesn't make a share price rise afterwards a given! Buyer sentiment, and news, will do that - or not.

It can rise - or fall - after consolidation, which should not be seen as some sort of magic wand.
