I think that you might find that hedge fund selling due to the credit crunch and therefore margin calls had more of an influence on the last 12 months performance of all U stocks rather than the price of U which is still extremely profitable for producers. The same old story when times are tough sell your good assets (U stocks) to pay off your bad ones (e.g. real estate etc..)These same hedge funds, or the ones that survived will probably lead the next leg higher which I think has just begun, should be an exciting next 12 months for uranium/gold/silver investors.
