Tony, the world is always hanging on by a thread. And yet it seems to get by and grow cyclically time and time again.
WW1 & 2, 1929 crash, the cold war crisis and the bay of pigs, 1987 crash, 9/11, GFC and so on (the Nostradamus followers predicted 2012 from memory - maybe that's going to be it?).
Whether or not another crisis is around the corner, if you trade with the trend and have a trade and risk management strategy, you can make money either way.
