SimMpa .................. IMO if, when a home is being built and the NCC (was BCA) required solar panels plus storage, all included in the mortgage and amortised over say 25 or 30years then the home would basically be independent of the grid and the increased mortgage payments would more than likely be offset by the small or zero power bills ..................... all we need is the political will to do it
