Thanks for your answers. I personally think they wouldn't simply for the reason simply because it would have been operating and opposition parties always lie and pretend they will do stuff which they don't.
However, the comment about proving itself is actually interesting. I've read before that the old rare-earths plant actually didn't cause a statistically significant increase in leukemia and other cancers.
Basically, it could very well be that the next person who develops any cancer in that area, (and possibly beyond) will be wheeled out as an example of Lynas' danger and a rally point for these people. It's all confirmation bias...
