I remember the outrage when Bill Clinton called the punishment of Michael Fay excessive after what he did in Singapore.

The fact is the rule of law is a sovereign thing.
If you kill people via people smuggling, it's shouldn't be considered an accident. The smugglers should be tried and charged with murder.
