I only half heard the story from the ABC news this morning but apparently Bob Karr mentioned in a press conference that authorities know that something like 90-95% of asylum seekers are economic refugees and are not in danger like they claim. He also admitted that to fix the problem we would need to leave the UN.
Leaving the UN has been mentioned by posters on HC before but it's interesting coming from an MP and maybe it's being considered?
