there is certainly a place for renewable energy in the makeup of the global energy market... no one is doubting that...
the issue with renewable energy such as solar. in my view, is always about the storage of the energy generated for consumption when the source of energy is unavailable for real-time consumption, i.e., the sun is on the other side of the planet..
the technology for batteries etc is coming along nicely in leaps and bounds, however, will it come along enough to be able to handle the baseload demands of the global growing demand for energy in the next 10-20 years?
imo, unlikely.
