Traffic cameras to track criminals

Thousands of traffic safety cameras around Australia could be used to track criminals.
But civil liberties activists have derided the plan as Big Brother at work, News Limited newspapers reported on Thursday.
CrimTrac, a federal authority, will soon complete study that could lead to a national automatic number plate recognition system (ANPR), monitoring millions of cars through speed, red light and traffic surveillance cameras, the reports said.
