you guys have hit the nail on the head. The full recourse nature of the loan system in Australia means that even if you walk away in Aus, unless the bank covers their position they will come after you personally & will start selling anything they can get their hands on to recoup the debt. I believe they can even setup automatic garnering of your wages.
That doesnt happen in the US.
