The general public is still not widely informed about electric vehicles - especially here in Australia.
The old marketing adage - "people buy what they want, not what they need" is especially true with EV's. The perception is that EV's are more environmentally friendly (which they are) but have less power, range and are still a bit "geeky". Especially for your typical V8 diesel guzzling rev head.
Tesla is the disruptive technology we need to make EV's sexy. Sooo sexy - they are selling themselves based on customers promoting them on social media (check out twitter for evidence) and word of mouth.
Once people WANT EV's (as opposed to needing them) - sales will explode and Lithium will do the same.
It's just a waiting game. Strong hands.
