    "Opens up the possibility"? Nope. You don't *need* 3D printing to use non-corrosive materials.

    3D printing is expensive and inefficient compared to traditional methods of working plastics, composites etc. Where it is useful is in prototyping and modelling, and where one-off pieces are being created (think doctors printing bone implants shaped to fit a s apecific patient etc). When you're prototyping a 3D printer taking half a day to give you a prototype in your hand is OMG FAST! When you're mass producing it's OMG SLOW!

    Making anything large and/or multiple copies of anything using 3D printing isn't the way to go, at least for now. Yes, the Chinese have a huge 12x12 metre 3D printer that they plant to use to construct buildings in one piece (taking 6-8 months to print), but they're cray cray.
