The planners have really backed themselves into the corner this time. No issues with drilling / fracturing, just noise (scoff scoff) & traffic. Now that Cuadrilla has been granted an extension I would hope that any complaints other than noise / traffic are thrown out.
A drilling rig and support gear producing noise no greater than a fridge would have to be the toughest noise standard in any industry in the world. Cows farting in the paddock next to the rig would make more noise.
If Cuadrilla doesn't get up this time then the UK shale industry will grind to a complete stop until energy truly becomes a matter of national significance i.e. they run out or the price goes through the roof.
