Ah! Menzies! Chuck, now you're talking! Life was good under old "Pig Iron Bob". I saw him face a heckling group of irate shearers & other workers and he finished with them eating out of his hand, with a "lets go and have a beer". One of my aunts was head of the local CWA and had the odd "cuppa" with Dame Pattie. Mind you, he had his detractors too, as I suppose all pollies do.But I digress into nostalgia......
For now, I think the best solution for the country is for the Libs to scrape in with a chastened Howard and a Rudd-led Opposition breathing close down his neck. I personally wouldnt have minded Pete Costello at the helm in preference to Howard (Ouch, who threw that rock?) but it seems the people dont want to consider him.
