If you believe the macro trend of energy/gold/food becoming the new currencies as fiat wobbles, it might be less about gains and more about protecting what capital we have left.
I sold my position in WAF a few weeks ago, the PE, the cashflow, none of it has any value if WAF can’t operate or get the gold out. I used that cash to buy actual gold.
If this was like any of their recent half dozen coups since ‘88, I wouldn’t be worried but the Russian backdrop was the trigger for me.
