In speaking with Jeff Seaney the now deputy, back before the liberal party were elected, he believed Cougar did not lobby/ suck up to the locals properly. He said, these companies have to learn that PR is very important when dealing with these small towns and their people. He was vaguely aware of the Cougar case in Kingaroy. He had no sympathy and said something like, "this should be a lesson to all mining related companies in how they deal with the locals. They can't just come in and take from the land. They have to be very sensitive."
I thought Cougar had tried to educate the people of Kingaroy, however they obviously did not succeed. I am not a local of Kingaroy so i cannot comment on how CXY performed in PR skills.
