RTG MINING: LANDOWNER GROUP SEEKS PANGUNA REVIVAL

RTG has confirmed its nomination as development partner in a landholder-led attempt to redevelop the 1.5Bt Panguna copper-gold project on the autonomous Bougainville region of PNG, nearly 29 years after it was abandoned because of community violence.
The Australian-headquartered company has subscribed $US0.75M into the venture with the Special Mining Lease Osikaiyang Landowners Association and private company Central Exploration seeking the staged reopening of the mine, starting with an initial 15Mtpa plant.
The SMLOLA proposal is in opposition to the bid by the original miner, Bougainville Copper, to gain approval from the Autonomous Region of Bougainville to resume mining.
