THE Court of Appeal has started its hearings on Monday at the High Court.
Three appealed cases have been heard yesterday before a three panel judge, Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer, Sir Gordon Ward and Justice Edwin Goldsborough.

A total of 13 cases have been listed to go before the judges this week.

Among the big cases listed for this week is the appeal matter lodged by the Japanese mining giant Sumitomo Ltd to challenging the recent High Court ruling of its case against Axiom Mining Limited.

The two mining firms have engaged in a long-drawn legal battle over mining rights on Isabel, which recently ended in the High Court when Justice John Brown ruled in favour of Axiom.

Court of Appeal decisions are either handed down towards the end of the hearing or after the hearing. Court of Appeal sits twice a year – in April and October.
