Alan Jones was playing down the Covid-19 outbreak the other morning when challenged by a listener.

Alan Jones view was that Italy's high death rate to reported cases is because Italy has a lot of old people and all deaths to date are over 80 years of age.

Given that this does not correlate with the published breakdown of age groups from various regions around the World, does the potency of this Virus depend on the length of time that it remains in the body at levels that overwhelm the compromised or if you like geriatric immune response?

Just asking as there seems to be no shortage of posters working in various areas of Health.

I presume that all the outbreaks will be analysed from around the World and which people fell off the hook first will be documented.

I guess if you were designing a virus to bowl over the oldies you would select a characteristic that is not completely by almost unique to an oldy's immune response.
