The Australian 'leadership' is acting totally re-actively and not proactively. Their efforts, like fever clinics, will do little to prevent an epidemic from occurring here, because by the time someone has been infected and identified, the virus has already done its job. Their travel restrictions on people arriving from overseas have come far too late. Most importantly, they are encouraging the spread of the virus by encouraging people to attend public gatherings.

The only way to prevent the pesky from spreading further is to stop all human interaction apart from the essential, as has occurred in China and Italy.

Italy had 2 cases on 29th January, now they have tens of thousands and over 1000 fatalities. All shops apart from chemists and small food shops are closed. People cannot enter chemist shops but are served through keyhole windows. No more than 3 people can enter your local food shop. Anyone disobeying are arrested, not fined. I am in communications with bat sister in Piedmont regularly.

Travel restrictions from Italy were instigated only 2 days ago, reluctantly.

In Australia, we at least need to stop mass gatherings. This is basic. Sorry Scomo, you can't go to the footy tomorrow. Get serious you fool!

The solution is simple: ask all Australians to stay home where possible, work and schools included, for 14 days so that we can stop most viral spread in this period resulting in no exponential growth of the virus. Every Australian in a position of authority over your workplace, needs to ask if you can stop or slow workers gathering for 14 days, whether that be factory owners or sole traders. Schools to close regardless.

14 days closure of non essential services will not kill us, but it will stop many of us from dying prematurely. Those who are seriously financially effected by such work closures, like non financial persons, can be directly financially assisted. This is not impossible.

It is probably the best thing we can do for our market also. Proactive action.
