You are just echoeing what is reported by Main stream media. Of course its in their interest to paint this kind of picture of fear because its better for ratings and selling of newspapers.
In addition, government would like control the masses with fear, because in the long-run it guarantees their re-election (ala D Andrews popularity of 71%)
Hospitals also want extra funding so its in their interest too.
I know that a few European countries have made temporary hospitals in stadiums and the like, but NONE of them are beginning to used at all. Maybe they wont even be needed.
