my understanding is the spike in hospitalisation occured just after the vaccine roll out, those who took the vaccine and fell ill were considered unvaccinated because they have not passed the 14 day or so criteria.
This new spike in numbers was given a name "Delta variant " which affects onlyl those specific age groups given the vaccine.
so in the view, the latest vaccine roll out for the even younger children has been termed omicron.
