I have read a few of your posts and been positively surprised by the amount of work you put into each of them.

I thought I'd just throw in my two cents' worth.

It's my opinion. However, it's genuine and based on experience.


I won't be discussing a recent HIV announcement I will just focus mainly on, in my opinion unrealistic expectation toward a magic cure for Covid-19

Few facts about COVID from European intensive care units

- 15% infected need hospital stay
- 1/4 of admitted patient needs mechanical ventilation
- 50% of ventilated patients die
- Respiratory failure around 5-7 days leads to ARDS
-ARDS requires prolonged ventilation 10-14 days to see any improvement. Hence lack of ventilators is the main reason for increased mortality
- antiviral medications would have someplace only in the early phase of disease but no difference in severe cases because it's an inflammatory process, not viremia, which causes deterioration.

Now about antiviral drugs:

In the majority of viral illnesses, antiviral meds have limited time and efficacy, mainly at an early stage.We had been exposed, and had time to test many of viruses in the past and to my knowlege there is no magic cure against any of them.

There is a reason why it takes years to have any approval of the drug. What works in tubes quite often does not work in a human.

Some Factors affecting drugs that you won't be able to test in tubes:

Bioactivity, after the first pass
Therapeutic vs Toxic dose
Half-life Dose-related toxicity
Elimination time

It takes years to assess that.

Covid it's not like HIV; there is a tiny window in theory for antiviral drugs before the inflammatory process starts.

I am a BIT holder, mainly for HIV related research, but I can't see them coming out with any magic cure for COVID 19.
