These drugs reduce viral loading... certainly Dr Fauci is a good source... I'm uncertain if these drugs are out or patent. They are fairly recent and Hep C is not a disorder that attracts much sympathy because its often associated with IV drug use (remember the biases that followed HIV?). As such its likely to be very expensive... something that would stop Mr Hunt from PBS listing.
Your "wise" doctor may go bust buying up these drugs. Remdesivir is the only only ant-retroviral that has been clinically shown to be effective. According to your link, these drugs have only "Laboratory" tests... they haven't been tested in vivo.
