There are no RICO lawsThere are no RICO laws in Australia. However, Section 35 of the Serious and Organised Crime (Control) Act 2008 provides that it is a criminal offence, punishable by up to five years imprisonment, to associate with a member of a declared criminal organisation1. The RICO Act has been in action since 1970 in the United States, and it allows a person who has committed "at least two acts of racketeering activity" to be charged with racketeering if such acts are related in one of four specified ways to an "enterprise"2.
