When you think about it the chooks outside are eating insects, worms and grass which the commercial chooks never get any of. No wonder the yolks are so different.
They also get some exercise. I love watching a chook that suddenly realises the others are 20m away and has to get there as fast as possible. They often get off the ground for a good part of the distance which must feel great and be so good for them.
I never sell my eggs because the price paid is a pittance compared to their real value so I give them away and the neighbour gives me veggies when he has a surplus. If you have something you could barter with and can find someone locally with chooks that might work for you too?
