News flash:Australia has recorded about 1.75M cases over the past 4 weeks.
That's about 7% of the population.
An average January in Australia sees about 350 deaths per day, from all causes.
Assuming the covid cases are relatively evenly distributed across the population profile, we should therefore now be expecting about 7% of those total daily deaths to be "covid deaths", simply due to statistics.
In other words, we should expect about 25 deaths per day right now as "covid deaths", even if NONE of them had anything to do with covid whatsoever.
Apparently, there are about 50 "covid deaths" per day right now. So about HALF probably have NOTHING to do with covid. This could be (and probably is imo) a significantly higher proportion if one considers that someone who is very ill and in hospital is likely more exposed and susceptible, and therefore more people than "average" who are near death anyway are probably positive cases. With no detailed data, we are left to speculate on some of these issues unfortunately.
As the case rates are still higher now than they were 4 weeks ago, this 7% figure will increase next week, shifting the "rolling 4-week total cases" up a notch. Probably up to over 8% of the population. This means we should expect "covid-deaths" (any death within 4 weeks of a +ve test) to increase next week, although around 30 of them (or probably more) per day will also likely be pure statistical coincidence.
Of course, as usual, we'll hear nothing about their ACTUAL cause/s of death, just that they were "covid deaths".... and get ya booster, save the kids blah blah blah etc etc.
