Normally, anything that has spikes in a system is bad. For example on a really hot day power consumption goes up as air conditioners get a good workout - on occasions, the huge power spike actually causes the system to shut parts down in order to protect the whole. Likewise in winter with a cold spell, where the culprit is the heater.

Similarly, on a very hot day a water reservoir will be topped up more regularly as water usage goes up - due to demand either more pumps need to run or to run for longer periods longer. Spikes can be seen on charts. Similar spikes on Mondays - being 'washing days'.

Earthquakes are detected by very sensitive instruments - the bigger the earthquake the bigger the spike on the graph.

There are low GI foods available so as to smooth out the release of sugar with the intent to minimising spiking.

So the point being, what makes anyone think that spike proteins are in fact good as steps against spiking are usually attempted to be mitigated against in most systems as much as possible. Spikes are a bit like needles and combining the two into a single dose is something one should avoid. Fools rushing in - another spike to avoid. AIMHO
