'If we get Covid, so be it': Outrage as Australian women's cricketer who tested positive for virus HUGS teammates after winning Commonwealth Games gold - but why did they let her play?

Australia vs the UK: How positive covid cases are treated

    Australia

If you test positive for COVID-19 you must immediately isolate.

Isolation means staying at home. You cannot attend work or school, visit public areas, or travel on public transport, in taxis or ride-share services.

You should stay separated from other people in your house if possible. Stay in a separate, well-ventilated room away from other people.

People must isolate at home for 7 complete days.  If you have no symptoms after 7 days, you can stop isolating. You do not need a negative test result.

    UK

    Self-isolation is not mandatory.

But the Government says people should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days.

Official advice says that people who avoiding meeting people at higher risk from covid for 10 days, especially if their immune system means they’re at higher risk of serious illness from COVID-19, even if they’ve had a COVID-19 vaccine.
