How many ordinary Australians aspire to be a politician? What proportion of our population are actually politicians?
The point being, the vast majority would never even contemplate entering politics, not because they are not capable but because they couldn't tolerate the utter hypocrisy of what politicians have to say and do to get elected. And they are not representative of the Australian population, they are far from it. I have found most Aussies are a no-nonsense lot and just want it put straight without sugar coating or using words to baffle or confuse them so yes I find pollies on the whole dim wits who only exist for their own ego and self gratification, and yes greed comes into it as well.
But if politics is the topic of choice at the next BBQ I would avoid the deliberations, lets talk about the weather?
