It was August 22, 2005, to be precise when the Virology Journal, the official publication of Fauci's NIH, published a blockbuster article revealing chloroquine as "a potent inhibitor of SARS coronavirus infection and spread." In this paper, researchers working under Fauci wrote: "We report ... that chloroquine has strong antiviral effects on SARS-CoV infection of primate cells. These inhibitory effects are observed when the cells are treated with the drug either before or after exposure to the virus, suggesting both prophylactic and therapeutic advantage."What this means, of course, is that Fauci has known the truth about hydroxychloroquine for 15 years, and yet remains adamantly opposed to its use now, instead favoring antiviral drugs like remdesivir and a future vaccine that has yet to be commercially released.
