Delta and omicron have changed the game since the original virus. A lot of ideas that made sense then are now outdated. A reset in thinking and approach is in order. As an aside I don’t think antivirals will be a game changer. Apart from those that target herpes viruses and HIV they’ve proven not to be overly effective. We stockpiled Tamiflu for influenza which I think is a bunch of crap, I would only use in very high risk selected patients. I work with many heart attack patients and we definitely target lifestyle issues. But most patients just want their vessels unblocked and go back to eating junk and smoking. Because they don’t want to make a change. There’s a lot of truth to the saying that it’s easier to cure a patient’s cancer than their alcoholism.
