Nothing scientific - but sure is political.
Interesting how countries couldn't even agree on social distancing 'rules'. The measuring stick in Australia was set at 1.5m but elsewhere they differ. For example in Sth Korea the distance is set at a precise 1.4m whilst in the US it was set at 1.8m.

Now, for all those scientifically minded people please explain the science behind it - or should the explanation perhaps come from politicians as to on what basis they plucked out these figures?? Perhaps a clue - to impose punitive measures so as to raise funds??
For example, should one be caught to be non compliant in Singapore, one better have deep pockets and possibly be prepared to sit out distancing from the general public for a while:
Excerpt:
In Singapore, not following the 1m rule in “non-transient” interactions can warrant a fine of up to 10,000 Singapore dollars or land one in jail for up to six months, or even both.
Then novel ways of implementation like in China:
Excerpt:
For example, students in a school in China’s Zhejiang have started wearing one-metre hats made using sticks, card boards and even balloons.
Perhaps rules need to be updated with all those variants - look out as some undoubtedly will 'break through' those distances. Better keep up with any changes, lest one be told ignorance is no excuse for not knowing and be fined or jailed for such scientifically proven methods.
Wonder how many viruses and their variants have been fined or jailed or both - after all, it is they who are the culprits - guessing they are smarter than any human and learned how to escape draconian non-sensical rules.
