Well you'd need to include some heavy hitters in that number of "many people" prior to 2020. Including the much lauded Fauci who, in 1991, put his name to a medical paper dismissing the effectiveness of masks, and, indeed, last year repeated the same advice.
Now, of course, he is a passionate supporter of mask wearing, which is somewhat of a departure from masks not being effective, and yet the sheep are not meant to ask why.he changed his tune, nor are they meant to be in the least bit suspicious.
In clown world, suspicion of politicians is considered to be a form of dangerous non compliance, and plenty of otherwise silent sheep will start bleating insanely when they see any evidence of that happening.
