They could be inert particles which are reacting to heat, as a many things do, by distorting as the expansion is uneven and have a memory but I thought the first video showed the particles moving towards the heat source?
Suppose they are innocent then they are still contaminates that serve no purpose and what are they and where did they come from?
Why isn't the CSIRO looking at things like this in our interests?
I wish he had introduced a small heat source like the other video, to see if they would move towards it or pick one out with tweezers so it's isolated and play with it, like dropping it into warm water. If they actually do move towards a heat source it's more than sinister.
