Oz has some problems - one of which is with 'reviews' - and investigations
we have them - many of them
but, we just don't act on the findings.
We've had bushfire inquiries - and not one suggestion was taken up - only to have another disaster years later - and yet another inquiry - finding exactly the same and putting out suggestions - again ---------- zip is done
Oz does this to artistic levels.
To me - lots of these things - one doesn't need inquiries.
Take the centrelink registration need for disasters ---------- one didn't need an inquiry
all one needed to do was to watch the telly - and the problem was on every station in full colour
no inquiry was needed - all that was needed was the leaders of the major parties to put a note in their diary to say that 'when this crisis is over' -------- one of us brings a law into the parliament, which we both support - making compulsory registration and the keeping up of a current bank account
no inquiry needed - just plain common sense and agreement of people we call leaders
the problem was staring us all in the face and so too was the solution.
Instead - what have we got? -------------- zippo, nothing - nothing has changed.
We're ready for the next disaster ------ to make a disaster out of something which shouldn't be even a tiny problem
