Normally I reckon the Chinese are pretty smart except for being completely dumb in a few areas - one of them notably in Chinese Traditional Medecine which is completely worthless together with its associated dietary industries.
This virus no doubt originated in filthy Chinese food markets where they trade in all kinds of esoteric rubbish food items not to mention the Chinese (and Asian) propensity for 'delicacies' such as Bear's Paws, Tiger Penis extracts, Civet Cat body parts, Pangolin body parts and God knows what else.
Maybe if the Chinese embraced more scientific thinking instead of traditional superstitious nonsense then there won't be more outbreaks of exotic viruses escaping their vile markets due to their Medieval thinking.
Now the World is approaching non-sustainable population levels the threat of epidemics generally will increase due to the ease of transmission of disease. So a move away from tradition and superstition in food consumption might be a good move? Maybe the Chinese government will see to that - it would be in its best interests.
