Australia has a very long history of paying through the nose for the most expensive naval ships available but neglecting to put much in the way of offensive or defensive armaments on them.
We have warships that were never equipped for combat.
That said the 3 destroyers do have one CIWS (instead of 2 ) but nobody wants to rely on a What a CIWS (chain gun) can do in the last 5 seconds or so.
Maybe there is a simple truth. Australia supports Israel but can't support Bibi any more. Albanese calls for a 2 state solution.
