Coziron finds more Pilbara gold in old auger samples


ASX listed junior explorer Coziron Resources has more reason to be confident about the Croydon Top Camp gold project in WA’s Pilbara region after re-assays of old samples from historic auger drilling created some excitement about the likelihood of finding lode-style gold mineralisation at the project.
Notably, the maximum gold result of 25 grams per tonne returned from the re-assay is significantly higher than the 8g/t gold reported in historical results.
The company said the re-assay of 182 auger pulps that were selected to provide representative data from six cross-sections across the project resulted in an upgrade on a comprehensive suite of pathfinder elements for lode-style gold mineralisation.


These include elevated arsenic, antinomy, tungsten, potash and silica that typically reach maximum values where the gold is higher according to the company.
Further support for the potential of a lode-style deposit is provided by the recent recovery of coarse gold fragments and historical geological and geochemical data.
Results from the program will be used to help with the targeting of a drilling program planned for later this year.
Coziron said that each zone of peak gold and each pathfinder-element anomalism that overlies the areas of altered rocks extending over a strike length of at least 1 km represents a priority drill-target.
The company is acquiring a 70% interest in the 317km2 Croydon Top Camp project from renowned prospector Mark Creasy’s Creasy Group.
The western block of the tenement has a long history of gold prospecting and small-scale mining activity.
There is also potentially some prospectivity for gold-bearing conglomerates at the project that will be evaluated by geological mapping and sampling.
