My reading of the CPSA is they are distributing information to us to make sure we are kept up to date so can make informed decisions. They are not telling us to do one thing or the other, just what the majority is doing or thinking.
As with OptionCo, it's the only viable alternative I believe. These guys, led by Stuart Howes have gone to the trouble of using the law and doing it professionally. They may not seem perfect and are copping a bit of flack. The truth is nobody of superior stature in the O&G game, seen as the real Messiah, is going to put their hat in the ring and risk reputational damage while there's a bun fight going on. Afterwards, they'll be queuing up!
The approach I'm taking is OptionCo is the start to right the ship, not necessarily the end game. That will sort itself out in time. The bottom line is the current board can not be trusted! Cottee seems to have also lost his mojo.
On the other hand, CB's mob have tried the cheap, sneaky way to get elected which hasn't worked. How naive and stupid can they be, by thinking that the current board would just roll over if the Scheme didn't get up, also including a previously removed director in their list? You wait, I bet there is some OptionCo bashing to come from sour grapes. All that will do will work against us changing the board. CTP/MQG would love the infighting. CB and his merry men are best to get behind OptionCo.
I think it's a no-brainer that the CPSA members alone have enough votes amongst themselves (if they all vote the way they have reportedly indicated they will) to perhaps defeat the Scheme. The CTP board (not so management - some of them will lose their jobs) are fully committed to do everything they can to get the Scheme through but a 75/25 vote was always going to be hard, particularly when your Top 20 has a small percentage of total shares and one of them (Macquarie) cannot vote their stock.
