To be honest GP, I thought the figures on page 19 were a little excessive, so I put together my own high rise model as follows (feel free to pick it apart) !!!

Assume:

Average power generated by windows is 10 watts/m2

40 storeys high (4m floor to floor)

Square plan 40m by 40m

Half facade area glazedCPV windows on 2 of the 4 facades (say east and west or north east and north west to maximise low angle sun)

Then area of CPV glazing is

2 x 0.5 x 40 x 40 x 4 = 6400 m2

Average power generated by CPV glazing is

6400 x 10 = 64kW

Equivalent roof top installation if half roof area utilised must generate 80 watts/m2 on average(0.5 x 40 x 40 x 80 = 64kW)

I think the cost of connecting it all up is a non-issue and a beat up. I am confident that clever and efficient systems can be implemented for both individual CPV windows and individual roof top panels which would be comparable in cost.

So it gets down to the additional cost for installing CPV windows instead of normal windows compared with the cost of a roof top installation.

For example if roof top cost $400/m2 (non- subsidised) then strip/interlayer/window manufacturer, CPV and licensee can collect a total of $60/m2 for an equivalent installation at an equivalent cost.

If they split that equally 3 ways then CPV revenue is $20/m2.

So CPV would collect $128,000 for the above high rise, still not bad !!!
