Dear geffa, It's a bit like taking out a bank loan. Once known that stock / entitlement will eventually be available they begin trading, even before formal registration. Individuals supposedly can't do it but brokers or those that deal with a friendly broker do it all the time. A lot of these trades being computer driven. Yes, If we had some decent backing or support from friendly sources then these rogues wouldn't get a foot in. Pure vultures, taking big but small margin turns. Once they know "shortfall" they also short like crazy knowing small fry like us may get spooked. I know someone who took the bet and made a few thousand by dumping around 500,000 between 4-5. Not sure if they have covered yet but they have the money or credit already in their account.
